All the planning is done, all the arrangements are made! We’re ready to start taking bookings for Yukon Gold 2020.
Join us for eight fun filled days of photography and learning with photography instructor Barry Giles. Prices start at CAD $2,749 plus tax per person for double occupancy. Below is a summary of the itinerary. Contact us for all the details!
May 2 (D) (Sat): Arrive in Whitehorse and settle into our accommodation at the Westmark Whitehorse Hotel.
May 3 (B,L) (Sun): Tour: We explore a loop from Whitehorse to Carcross, to Little Atlin Lake, to Marsh Lake and back to Whitehorse.
May 4 (B,L) (Mon): Weather permitting: A hike departing from Fish Lake. Several other options are available should the weather not co-operate!
May 5 (B,L) (Tue): We will drive a section of the Klondike Highway that will take us to the White Pass Summit at the Canada/U.S. border.
May 6 (B,L) (Wed): Today we move our base of operations to Haines Junction and the beautiful Raven’s Nest Inn.
May 7 (B,L) (Thu): An unforgettable 200 km roundtrip over Haines Pass will take your breath away.
May 8 (B,L) (Fri): Today we head north! A roughly 80 km trip up to Kluane Lake.
May 9 (B,L) (Sat): Return to Whitehorse. The afternoon is free time to explore the city and perhaps do some souvenir shopping!
May 10 (B) (Sun): Flight home, or continue your visit of the area on your own.
Weather is a big factor when it comes to photography and will play a part in what we do and when we do it. Be flexible!
Our tours may include hikes/walks of several kilometers, possibly over rough or uneven terrain. A certain level of physical fitness is required. If you are unsure, please contact us.
Although not specifically included in the itinerary, evenings may include activities such as sunset photo opps or instructional photography workshops. Upon return to our accommodation, before we disperse for supper, we will have a quick (5-10 minute) informal get together to discuss what, where and when for the next day as well as any evening possibilities.
Our ground transportation will consist of 2 or more vehicles. We encourage participants to switch vehicles from day to day and will introduce a ‘lottery’ to determine which will be your vehicle for the day.
We want this tour to be not just fun, but also a learning experience. We want to help you become an even better photographer! There will be plenty of opportunity (if you wish it) for one-on-one time with Barry, our Professional Photography Instructor. Barry has over 35 years experience teaching photography skills at a college level; Scenic, Wildlife, Landscape, Action and Macro/Close-up. His vast knowledge of nature and natural history can be put to good use helping you identify what you’re seeing and photographing.
