THE VIKING TRAIL, Open for Booking!
I'm happy to announce that all the pieces are in place and we are ready to hold your spot for “The Viking Trail, Newfoundland Photography Experience 2018.” Space is limited to 10, so don’t delay.
We'll meet in Deer Lake on June 16th, 2018. The next two days we will explore the area south and west of Deer Lake including the Humber Arm, Blow Me Down Provincial Park and Bottle Cove. A boat tour to Wood Island, with time to explore and photograph on the island is also scheduled.
Days four, five six and seven are earmarked for Gros Morne National Park. The 'must do' 4 km Tablelands Trail will be done!. "It is the only park trail that really lets you appreciate the magnificent spectacle that is the Tablelands." Over the next three days we intend to explore different areas within the park via a few of the many hiking/walking trails available. For now, we’ll leave the selection of which trails open.
Day eight sees us travelling the Viking Trail from Rocky Harbour to Saint Anthony. A bit of a drive, but we have numerous stops planned along the way including The Arches Provincial Park and the Torrent River Salmon Interpretive Centre Park.
Days nine and ten will be devoted to exploring the tip of the Northern Peninsula; The tip of the Northern Peninsula is chock full of history and photo opps including L’Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site, Cape Onion, Spillars Cove, Saint Lunaire-Griquet, Cape Norman and Pumley Cove. A boat tour through the northern corridor of Iceberg Alley is included. This area consistently has more icebergs than any other area in Newfoundland. With a little luck, we may also see whales and a variety of seabirds.
Day eleven we begin our journey back to Deer Lake. But we'll break up the trip with a couple of nights in Port au Choix. Photo opps include the National Historic Site, the archaeological site, the lighthouse and choice from several short hikes/walks.
Day thirteen will end with our arrival back in Deer lake where we will spend one more night before making making our way home, or perhaps continue exploring this amazing island on your own!
The price for this two week tour is CAD $4,399 plus GST for single occupancy, CAD $3,599 plus GST for double. Transportation to and from Newfoundland is not included. A deposit of $300 will be required on booking, the balance will be due March 15, 2018.
