I'm pleased to announce that the 2018 Yukon Gold Photo Tours are open for booking. Please join us for up to two weeks of photography, and/or improving your photography skills with instruction from professional photography teacher Barry Giles.
We are offering two itineraries back to back, so you can choose to do one or the other, or both:
Itinerary #1; Dawson City/Tombstone Territorial Park, August 18-24, 2018. Day 1 we will meet in Whitehorse where we will spend the night after a meet and greet and a get to know each other dinner that evening. Day two will start with exploring a 500 km section of the Klondike Highway between Whitehorse and Dawson City. Although this is a long drive, we plan on making several stops to take in and photograph the stunning scenery along the route. Day three will be filled with photography in and around Dawson City, and end with an evening at Diamond Tooth Gerties where we will be entertained like the Sour Dough's were in the early 1800's.
The next two days we will explore in and around Tombstone Territorial Park. We have bookmarked several possible short hikes/walks within and around the Park to get us to those amazing scenic and landscape photography viewpoints. August 23rd will see us once again making our way along the Klondike Highway back to Whitehorse where we will spend one more night before starting itinerary #2, continuing exploring the Yukon on your own, or making your way home.
Itinerary #2; Whatehorse/Haines Junction/Kluane National Park, August 25 - September 3, 2018. This tour starts with four nights in Whitehorse. We will arrive in Whitehorse August 25 (unless you are joining us from the first tour). We will have a meet and greet and a get to know each other dinner that evening. Day trips for the next three days could include photography over a section of the White Pass (drive), a hike up to Fish Lake, a loop from Whitehorse to Carcross and the world’s smallest dessert, to Little Atlin Lake, to Marsh Lake and back to Whitehorse (drive) and numerous other possibilities in and around Whitehorse.
Day 5 we move our base to Haines Junction, on the edge of Kluane National Park and Reserve. We will spend the next three days photographing in and around the Park, including Haines Pass, Kathleen Lake, Kloo Lake, Sulpher Lake, Sheep Mountain and Kluane Lake. An optional glacier flight over Kluane is also offered.
Also, we will be monitoring Aurora Borealis forecasts through-out both itineraries watching for favorable conditions. Be ready on any given night for Aurora Photography!
Prices start at $2,199 + tax, double occupancy, itinerary #1. You can save $400.00 and pay one deposit; join us for both tours! Details are in the itinerary. Please contact us for your copy and with any questions you may have.
